Transcriptomics

Main content

Transcriptomics represent a large share of the scientific activity taking place at the FGCZ.

Leveraging the high throughout of three Illumina HiSeq systems, we concentrate our efforts on RNA-seq experiments aimed at profiling the transcriptomes of several organisms in order to identify genes that discriminate different conditions, treatment and/or time points. Additionally, particularly with the aim of the long reads of technologies such as PacBio, specific alternative splicing mechanisms can be elucidated. Small RNAs are also routinely investigated.

The FGCZ does not have however the capability to perform RNA extraction in its laboratories, therefore the user will bring in the RNA samples on which the FGCZ workflow will begin by preparing specific sequencing libraries.
