Bioinformatics and biostatistics; next generation sequencing expert
Giancarlo is mainly involved in the development of statistical and computational resources for the evaluation, alignment, mapping, annotation and analysis of DNA sequences generated by high-throughput instruments. He is also interested in bioinformatics tools for denovo genome assembly and transcriptomics analysis.
Prior to joining the FGCZ in December 2011, Giancarlo has received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cardiff University (2009) and worked as Associate Researcher at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics (2009-2011) at Cardiff University, School of Medicine.
