B-Fabric is an ongoing research effort that investigates and develops an information infrastructure for coping with and connecting all data and processes of a (life sciences) research facility. Essentially, the B-Fabric infrastructure provides the basis for successfully performing the required continuous adaptation of the inherently evolving and unforeseeable requirements of the research field. It covers all main aspects of a productive information management system, including data capturing and generation, data annotation and meta-data management, data search and browsing, transparent access and standard access protocols, application coupling and tracking, communication and notification, task-orientation and monitoring, logging, reliability, performance, authentication, authorization, and many more issues required for running the daily business of both researchers as well as of research facility directors in an effective and sustainable way.
