The User Lab is a concept of supporting the research groups from ETH Zurich and University of Zurich with technologies and expertise in the area of functional genomics.
Within user lab projects, the scientists of the research groups are involved in all analytical and data evaluation procedures. The FGCZ staff gives training and assistance to the scientists during all steps of the project. User lab projects typically cover all aspects ranging from the experimental design to the experimental analysis and finally to the bioinformatic data analysis and interpretation.
For user lab projects, the FGCZ covers most of the costs for the use of infrastructure and instrumentation and for support by FGCZ staff. Project-specific consumables exceeding standard chemicals, lab supplies and usage fees for a defined set of instruments are charged to the user groups. All data generated within user lab projects is during a certain period for the exclusive use of the generating user group. After the grace period, the data is published in the Zurich Functional Genomics Database and is available to all users of the FGCZ.
If individual projects have special needs and require more than standard support, the FGCZ may provide this in form of a scientific collaboration.
Researchers of UZH or ETH, submit their proposal via the Project Request Tool (PRT), if you are interested in a user lab project. Requests will be reviewed by FGCZ experts and the FGCZ steering committee for technical and scientific quality.
Guidelines for the description of FGCZ User Lab Projects.
Researchers from external institutions, please inquire for the availability of resources.
Project submission and evaluation is done on a bi-monthly basis.
